Halloween Festivities Part Deux
What a great Halloween this has been. The weather has been fantastic (always a concern of mine since I'm use to so many cold, snowy birthdays!) and we spent it celebrating as a family. All month I asked Walker what he wanted to be and he said Thomas the Train. Well he was that last year, so I thought "great! this is easy enough." Once he mentioned being a lion, but then he went back to saying Thomas the Train. So I didn't get him a costume, the good mom that I am, I was planning on recycling. I know, classy! On Thursday I had major pings of guilt. I quickly called my neighbor, who saved me! and asked if I could borrow the costume her little boy wore last year. She obliged and Walker was happy being an elephant! Lesson learned-don't recycle, go back your kid a new costume! :)
Friday we continued the festivities by attending our church's Trunk or Treat party. We arrived right when they started the trick-r-treating portion of the evening and...when it started to rain. hard! It had been threatening to rain most of the day and of course, when we were trying to score free candy, it rains! My favorite quote of the evening was from Kristine, as she was being dragged by her kids from car to car, "What we endure for our kids! I have candy at home, why don't I just give that to them?!" My other favorite moment was when we realized we forgot Walker's Thomas the Train bucket at home and were saved by an empty happy meal box in the back seat. I know, I told you we were CLASSY!!! It's how we Gilberts roll.
The next day was my birthday and I was pleasantly awoken by Walker wanting to open my gifts for me. I was treated very well with some new camera equipment and a gift card for a photog class. I'm so excited! We had family breakfast and I enjoyed my new toys by taking tons of pics of the kiddos. I swear, Walker's already sick of me and my camera. Oh well! :) Our neighbors were kind enough to take the kids for a couple of hours so Abe and I could enjoy a lovely birthday dinner. We arrived at the restaurant at 4:00 pm and we were the only ones there. It was so thoughtful of Abe to rent out the entire place. :) We even beat the early-birds!! When we got back, we dressed the kids up in their costumes, met up with our neighbors and went to town taking even more pictures. It was so much fun and the kids loved every second of it. We loaded up with kids with their buckets and began our trick-r-treating adventure with wagon and stroller on hand. Walker and Beau did fantastic the whole time. They loved to go up to the door and ring the doorbell and then pick their own candy. The neighbors were very kind and patient with our little boys. They were just so excited at each house, they'd grab huge handfuls of candy and dump it in their buckets. At least they said Thank you each and every time. We tried hard to help them only pick out one. Unlike someone that came by our house while were out and dumped our WHOLE bowl full of candy into their bag! Yeah, two kids, with their parents mind you, took all of our candy. Unbelievable!!! Whatever! All in all it was a great day, a great Halloween and a great birthday!!

What?!!! Only 2 kids and they took all of yours & our candy? If it wasn't your birthday, I would have to take matters into my own hands!
